Job Summary

The Vice President, Renewable Energy Development will oversee the project development process, identifying, assessing, and executing opportunities to ensure growth of the project pipeline for development. This role will lead and implement the company's development strategy, in close collaboration with the Chief Development Officer, across all aspects of project development, with a primary focus on permitting activities for solar and energy storage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Development: Oversee and fully own the project development process, including identifying, assessing, and executing opportunities to ensure growth of the project pipeline for development.
  • Development Strategy: Lead and implement the company's development strategy, in close collaboration with the Chief Development Officer, across all aspects of project development, with a primary focus on permitting activities for solar and energy storage.
  • Permitting Process: Develop and execute strategies to streamline permitting processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Stakeholder Management: Serve as an executive-level representative of the company, effectively communicating project objectives and milestones to stakeholders to gain requisite project approvals and to build trust internally and externally.
  • Project Delivery: Collaborate with other company leaders and various cross-functional teams to drive projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and within budget.
  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain relationships with regulatory authorities, local communities, and other key stakeholders to ensure advancement and derisking of the portfolio.
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership, mentorship, and career opportunities to the project development team, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Business Development: Lead major land contract decisions and participate in landowner negotiations and structuring of all aspects of a project or transaction, as necessary.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree with focus on business, economics, or engineering; advanced degree or MBA preferred.
  • Experience: 10-15 years in solar industry; commercial acumen, pipeline strategy, project development in the US market.
  • Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of IPP markets and practices with preference for PJM, MISO, and SERC experience.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
  • Project Management: Proven experience in successfully leading projects from start to COD in the renewable energy sector.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of permitting processes and regulatory requirements for solar and energy storage projects.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills, with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams.
  • Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to navigate challenges and drive projects to successful completion.
