Key Responsibilities:

Role Purpose

This role encompasses comprehensive accounting responsibilities for:

  • Multiple operational wind and/or solar projects.
  • Specific subject matter areas.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with fellow accountants in our Houston and San Francisco offices, as well as with teams from finance, land, legal, asset management, and tax departments.

Main Accountabilities

  • Oversee full accounting and general ledger functions, including the preparation of monthly standalone financial statements for various projects.
  • Manage accounting and general ledger duties for designated subject matter areas and their interdependencies.
  • Analyze and interpret project contracts to ensure accurate accounting and compliance.
  • Conduct monthly account analyses and reconciliations.
  • Meet deadlines for monthly, quarterly, year-end, and special project reporting.
  • Utilize and navigate Pattern's general ledger and reporting software (Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, and Power BI).
  • Support quarterly and annual reporting, focusing on footnote compilation and necessary disclosures.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls.
  • Maintain schedules to support tax filing obligations.
  • Establish and maintain accounting and permanent files for existing and new projects.
  • Conduct accounting research as required.
  • Facilitate communication with Pattern's domestic offices and third parties to gather information and resolve accounting issues.
  • Assist in annual budget preparation and monthly forecasting updates.
  • Engage in special projects as necessary.

Qualifications:

Educational Background

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is required. A CPA license or Canadian Chartered Accountant designation is preferred.

Work Experience

The following criteria will guide Pattern in selecting a qualified candidate:

  • A minimum of 4-8 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

Preferred experience includes:

  • Experience in the renewable energy sector.
  • Accounting for power plants.
  • Accounting experience within a US public company.
  • Consolidation and equity-method accounting involving minority interests.
  • International accounting experience.

Additional Skills

The ideal candidate will exhibit strengths in the following areas:

  • Demonstrated technical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical accounting background, with experience in complex accounting issues, consolidations, US GAAP, IFRS, foreign currency translation, and equity accounting.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines for monthly and quarterly reporting, with thorough analyses and reconciliations.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage a demanding workload with multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
  • Strong interpersonal, writing, and communication skills, capable of engaging in Operations meetings and contributing effectively.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement and proactively suggest solutions.

Technical Proficiencies

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with reporting software (Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, Power BI).

Compensation and Benefits

The expected starting salary for this position ranges from $90,000 to $115,000 USD, with the potential for additional compensation based on various factors, including location, experience, and education. Our comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, life insurance, and a 401(k)/RRSP retirement savings plan with employer contributions.
