Job Summary

Air Export Operations Agent III coordinates the day-to-day export of international freight forwarding shipments into and out of the USA across all modes of international transportation based on customer requests. The primary focus is providing a high-level of operational excellence and a world-class customer service experience to all customers.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and validate customer order details, including Cargowise Org, Credit, Export POA, Restricted Commodities, Cargo Value, Embargoes/Sanctions, Additional Services, Documentation Requirements, and Incoterms.
  • Identify the best routing and transit option per customer request or SOP.
  • Anticipate and secure quotations from vendors for all potential order costs.
  • Issue customer or overseas office/agent quotations and confirm acceptance.
  • Perform TSA Known Shipper Checks.
  • Secure bookings from airlines.
  • Dispatch inland carriage with subcontractors if applicable.
  • Accrue all costs in CargoWise and perform initial profitability checks.
  • Issue customer booking confirmations.
  • Confirm timely delivery/receipt of cargo and update system milestones.
  • Receive and validate customer documents.
  • Ensure receipt of AES Data elements in writing from USPPI (if applicable).
  • File AES according to USPPI instructions (if applicable).
  • Receive and validate master air waybills.
  • Track and confirm flight departures and update system milestones.
  • Issue AIT House air waybills according to customer and destination requirements.
  • Upload all documents to edocs in CargoWise.
  • Send pre-alerts to overseas offices/agents.
  • Confirm final costs, ensuring all are accrued and final profitability checks are complete.
  • Issue invoices to customers/overseas offices as required.
  • Distribute documents as per shipper requirements/SOPs.
  • Manage customer reporting and/or additional system milestones as required.
  • The wage range for this position is $$ - $$ and may vary based on geography as well as relative knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience.

Other Skills We Hope to See:

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent.
  • 4-6 years of freight forwarding experience preferred.
  • Dangerous Goods Certification preferred.
  • Certified CargoWise Specialist (CCO) required.
  • Certified CargoWise Specialist (CCS) preferred.
  • Proficiency in CargoWise.
  • Advanced math and geography skills.
  • Ability to analyze numerical data and understand components, relationships, find patterns, and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to recommend solutions to common problems.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of freight movement, air vendors, air space configurations, container loads, special loading constraints, regulatory requirements, pricing, service routings, AIT product offerings, equipment types, incoterms, and shipment profitability.
  • Intermediate knowledge of country regulations and AIT policies and procedures that minimize risks to the customer and company.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using units of currency, weight, volume, and distance measurements.
  • Proficiency with using MS Office.
  • Has substantial understanding of the job and applies knowledge and skills to complete a wide range of tasks.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret complex procedures/regulations and write correspondence and procedural documents.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with a variety of people; can effectively present information in large group settings.
  • Responds promptly and professionally to customer needs and solicits feedback to improve performance.
