We are currently seeking a Fire Protection Engineer Professional to contribute to our team, providing a range of administrative and professional support services.

The selected candidate will receive a competitive hourly wage as a Contract W-2 Employee, along with additional state-specific compensation to cover health and welfare expenses in accordance with applicable labor regulations.

Standard working hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., including a 30-minute lunch break, with potential flexibility through coordination with relevant stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

The Fire Protection Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the safety of building occupants and visitors from fire hazards within GSA owned and leased properties. The role includes:

  • Evaluating project construction design documents for compliance with fire and life safety standards.
  • Assessing fire safety checklists for newly leased facilities.
  • Conducting acceptance testing of fire protection systems.
  • Inspecting construction sites to ensure adherence to fire and life safety regulations.
  • Performing investigations and analyses related to fire and life safety systems.
  • Representing the GSA Safety & Environmental team in meetings.
  • Compiling and analyzing data related to fire and life safety.

Travel may be required for this position, estimated at +/- 25%.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Expert knowledge of National Fire Codes and Standards from the National Fire Protection Association, as well as the International Building Code.
  • Experience in acceptance testing of fire protection systems.
  • An active Moderate Risk Public Trust Clearance.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

Candidates must meet one of the following educational and experience criteria:

  • A degree in fire protection or fire safety engineering with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • A professional engineer (P.E. or equivalent) registered in Fire Protection Engineering.
  • A professional engineer (P.E. or equivalent) registered in a related engineering discipline with membership in the International Society of Fire Protection Engineers.
  • Comparable Federal Grade Level experience.
