Position Summary
We are seeking a Construction Manager specializing in Fire Protection Engineering to provide expert guidance in both construction management and fire safety engineering. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in evaluating design and construction plans against actual site conditions, addressing unforeseen challenges, and proposing effective technical solutions. Responsibilities include:
- Offering planning, design, and construction support for facility restoration and renovations.
- Assisting Project Managers in tracking project progress and identifying potential issues.
- Developing strategies to tackle challenges using current design and construction practices.
- Collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to manage complex project data and issues.
- Applying project management knowledge to address field needs across multiple projects.
- Supporting the Senior Resident Engineer in monitoring construction compliance with contractual obligations.
- Advising on contract coordination and maintaining an integrated project schedule.
- Compiling reports to ensure accuracy and developing metrics to mitigate construction risks.
- Facilitating communication among project stakeholders regarding requirements and timelines.
Qualifications:
- A degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Fire Protection Engineering (10 years preferred).
- 5 years of experience in inspecting fire protection construction.
- Completion of an online OSHA 30-Hour Safety Training Class within 60 days of hiring.
Essential Skills:
- Comprehensive knowledge of commercial construction, including Life Safety systems, Sprinkler systems, Fire Alarm systems, and HVAC systems.
- Understanding of low voltage systems such as fire alarms and security management.
- Ability to provide cost estimates and assess compliance with industry standards.
- Familiarity with building, safety, and environmental codes.
- Experience in reviewing design and construction plans against site conditions.
- Proficiency in utilizing various software programs for project monitoring and reporting.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster effective communication.
Work Environment:
This position operates in a professional office setting with the expectation of flexibility in work hours as project demands arise. The role may require occasional physical activity, including moving light objects and remaining stationary for extended periods.
