Compensation:

Salary Range:

$81,780 - $116,074 (Grade F: 479 points)

Responsibilities:

The incumbent will support the daily management of Safety Engineering and Fire Safety sections within the Risk Assessment and Fire Safety Division. Additionally, the incumbent will be assigned to various significant projects that require dedicated personnel. The scope includes directing policies and procedures aimed at the proactive and reactive reduction/elimination of hazards through safety engineering, as well as Fire and Life Safety measures during the design and construction phases of work. The incumbent will manage the review of Capital Project design documents, including scope of work, engineering designs, and specifications for station and facility projects, and will participate in field inspections and design/construction review meetings. Furthermore, the incumbent will review and implement safety engineering and fire safety policies, instructions, and guidelines within assigned dedicated Capital Projects. The incumbent will analyze fire statistics and will be responsible for responding to and conducting cause and origin investigations for fires that occur within the system. Must be available for emergency response duties (in company vehicle) and possess a valid Driver's license.

Education and Experience:

A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering or a satisfactory equivalent and five (5) years of experience with three (3) years of managerial or supervisory experience.

Desired Skills:
  • Extensive knowledge of bus and rail operations.
  • Familiarity with Federal, State, and Local Laws, standards, and guidelines pertaining to engineering practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address the everyday challenges of this position.
  • Experience in fire origin and cause investigation.
  • Code Enforcement Official Certification (Preferred)
  • Associate Safety Professional Certification (ASP)
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
