About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to serve as the Vice President of Member and Student Services. This individual will play a critical role in leading the development and implementation of strategic plans to enhance the overall effectiveness of our member and student services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the President & CEO to develop and implement a proactive agenda for Member and Student Services.
  • Provide leadership and support to Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs) on institutional capacity building through various member and student services, including resource development, strategic planning, and program development.
  • Provide advice and consultation to other Vice Presidents to ensure efficient practices for serving members, students, faculty, and staff to fulfill the mission of AIHEC.
  • Oversee all areas of TCU member and student services, including leadership, development, management, assessment, and quality improvement.
  • Responsible for developing, executing, monitoring, and maintaining the Member and Student Services budget.
  • Develop funding and policy proposals that meet and address the needs of AIHEC, TCUs, and funders.
  • Build organizational capacity for intermediaries to support TCUs and empower them to undergo institutional transformation through postsecondary education to completion.
  • Identify opportunities to engage other subject matter experts with expertise in higher education policy and program development.
  • Demonstrate understanding or experience with Indigenous Knowledge systems, including applying American Indian and Alaska Native perspectives and methodologies in strategic planning, educational programs, and policy development.
  • Provide other support to the President & CEO and any other applicable duties as required in support of the mission and vision of AIHEC.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in higher education administration or a related field from an accredited college or university required with an exceptional combination of relevant experiences. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 10 years of progressively responsible member and student services leadership experience, adult education, or higher education administration experience, including seven (7) years of management oversight and supervisory experience required.
  • Minimum eight (8) years of management, oversight, and supervisory experience, including ability to manage people, programs, and projects required.
  • Proven track record of leading, influencing, and managing a team and stakeholders through change and growth.
  • A successful record of administration including planning, resource and personnel management, student information systems, and program development required.
  • Demonstrated experience and strong knowledge of American Indian/Alaskan Native higher education issues.
  • Proven experience in grant writing including awards and grant management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accreditation, data and/or research capabilities.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills and the ability to communicate with transparency and clarity are required.
  • A demonstrated ability to collaboratively and sensitively work with people with diverse racial, ethnic, socioeconomic backgrounds and those with disabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
