Position Overview

This role is primarily responsible for conducting Electrocardiograms, Holter monitoring, Holter scanning, and Stress Testing in accordance with physician directives. This position is identified as a lead role to provide essential support to departmental leadership based on the department's size.

This position acts as the Lead Non-Invasive Cardiac Specialist and serves as a vital resource and mentor to staff and less experienced technologists.


Essential Qualifications
Education:
Associates Degree in Allied Health Sciences or an equivalent combination of training and experience as a Cardiology Technician and completion of the Basic Arrhythmia Course.

Licenses/Certifications:
Certification by the American Hospital Association in BCLS.

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
Experience:
A minimum of four (4) years of experience in performing Electrocardiograms (ECG), Holter monitoring, Holter scanning, and related Cardiac Stress Testing procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare patients for Electrocardiogram, Holter monitor, and/or Stress Test examinations, explaining procedures and ensuring technical quality.
2. Manage a multi-patient task list and prioritize effectively.
3. Assist in maintaining appropriate patient flow and ensure the delivery of quality services within the department. Participate in scheduling and committee activities.
4. Address situations requiring expertise, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
5. Perform additional supervisory or lead-related duties as assigned.
6. Report any incidents, complaints, or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor/manager.
7. Respond to all Code Blue calls as part of the resuscitation team per facility requirements.
8. Prepare and present ECG tracings to physicians for interpretation following hospital protocols.
9. Review ECG tracings and alert appropriate medical personnel of patients with serious arrhythmias.
10. Exhibit excellent customer service skills and escalate issues as necessary.
11. Act as a designated resource and mentor to staff and less experienced technologists, introducing and demonstrating new techniques.
12. Responsible for orientation and mentoring of new hires or educational support for students.
13. Manage supply inventory.
14. Uphold safety, environmental, and infection control procedures within the department.
15. Engage in performance improvement initiatives established by the department.

Ensure safe care for patients, staff, and visitors; adhere to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary constraints, including time management, supply management, productivity, and quality of service.

Promote individual and professional growth by fulfilling requirements for mandatory and continuing education and skills competencies; support department-based objectives that contribute to the organization's success.
