Job Description

**Position Overview:**

We are seeking a skilled Certified Surgical Technologist to join our team at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands. As a perioperative patient care specialist, you will be responsible for providing proficient patient care through the use of equipment and instrumentation.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Function as a scrub assistant to the physician performing operative and/or invasive procedures
  • Work under the direction of a Registered Nurse and as outlined in the Surgical Technologist Skills Inventory
  • Use knowledge and expertise to act as a role model and resource for other staff
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient served
  • Verify functioning and adequate availability of supplies/instruments/equipment prior to the surgical procedure
  • Ensure safe care to patients, staff, and visitors
  • Promote individual professional growth and development
  • Support department-based goals and contribute to the success of the organization

**Requirements:**

  • Graduate of a Surgical Technologist Program
  • Certified in Basic Life Support and current Certification as a Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology & Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

**Accountabilities:**

  • Demonstrate knowledge and practice of perioperative patient care concepts
  • Perform independently as first scrub in assigned specialty areas
  • Support readiness and flow of cases to facilitate overall functioning of the unit
  • Ensure safe care to patients, staff, and visitors
