Position Overview

This role is essential for executing Electrocardiograms, Holter monitoring, Holter scanning, and Stress Testing in accordance with physician directives. The position is recognized as the Lead Non-Invasive Cardiac Specialist and serves as a key resource and mentor for staff and less experienced technologists.Key Responsibilities

Essential Qualifications

Education: Associate's Degree in Allied Health Sciences or a comparable combination of training and experience as a Cardiology Technician, along with completion of the Basic Arrhythmia Course.

Licenses/Certifications: Certification by the American Hospital Association in BCLS.

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • Experience: A minimum of four (4) years of expertise in performing Electrocardiograms (ECG), Holter monitoring, Holter scanning, and related Cardiac Stress Testing procedures.
Core Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for Electrocardiogram, Holter monitor, and/or Stress Test procedures, explaining the processes and ensuring technical excellence.
  • Effectively manage a multi-patient task list and prioritize tasks accordingly.
  • Assist in maintaining patient flow and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services within the department. Participate in scheduling and committee activities as needed.
  • Address situations requiring expertise, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Perform additional supervisory and leadership duties as assigned.
  • Report any incidents, complaints, or equipment issues to the supervisor/manager.
  • Respond to all Code Blue calls as part of the resuscitation team in accordance with facility protocols. Prepare and present ECG tracings to physicians for interpretation as per hospital guidelines.
  • Review ECG tracings and notify appropriate medical personnel of patients exhibiting serious arrhythmias.
  • Exhibit outstanding customer service skills and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Act as a designated resource and mentor for staff and less experienced technologists, introducing and demonstrating new techniques. Responsible for orientation and mentoring of new hires or education for students.
  • Manage supply inventory effectively.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and infection control protocols within the department.
  • Engage in performance improvement initiatives established by the department.
  • Guarantee safe care for patients, staff, and visitors; comply with all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary constraints, including time management, supply management, productivity, and service quality.
  • Foster individual and professional growth by meeting requirements for mandatory and continuing education and skills competencies; support department-based objectives that contribute to the organization's success.
