Patient Access Representative

The Patient Access Representative is a vital role within Sentara Healthcare, responsible for ensuring seamless patient registration processes. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify patient identity and select the correct patient record
- Review schedules and physician orders to register patients for the appropriate service
- Scan important documents, such as insurance cards and ID's, and verify demographic and insurance information
- Explain and complete complex regulatory and compliance documents, adhering to all applicable privacy and compliance standards
- Collect co-payments, deposits, and outstanding balances, performing transactions securely
Requirements:
- Two years of customer service and/or data entry experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree can be considered in lieu of two years of experience
- Knowledge of third-party payers, ICD-9/CPT coding, and medical terminology preferred
