Position Overview

The Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment is in search of a Grants Manager to oversee the financial and administrative functions of research initiatives for faculty and scholars. This role is essential in managing both sponsored and non-sponsored research activities, facilitating the translation of innovative ideas into practical solutions for energy and environmental challenges.

Key Responsibilities

The Grants Manager will be responsible for comprehensive pre- and post-award grant administration, which includes:

  • Pre-Award Duties:
    • Communicating research funding policies to faculty and staff to ensure adherence to regulations;
    • Assisting in the preparation and submission of proposals, ensuring all requirements are met;
    • Reviewing documentation and aiding faculty with conflict of interest disclosures;
    • Coordinating the proposal submission process to relevant funding agencies;
    • Ensuring timely submission of proposals to meet agency deadlines.
  • Post-Award Duties:
    • Monitoring and reviewing award notices for compliance with special conditions;
    • Preparing financial reports and analyzing expenditures for ongoing projects;
    • Managing grant modifications, extensions, and budget reallocations;
    • Overseeing salary certifications and ensuring accurate effort reporting;
    • Reviewing and approving financial transactions related to research projects.

Compliance and Collaboration

This role serves as a key liaison with the Office of Research and Project Administration and Sponsored Research Accounting, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements and timely submission of necessary documentation. The Grants Manager must remain informed about evolving sponsor guidelines and federal regulations.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business or a related field;
  • 3-4 years of relevant experience in grant management;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel;
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities;
  • The capacity to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with university grants management systems and familiarity with federal funding guidelines is preferred.
