Position Overview

The Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment is seeking a Grants Manager to oversee the financial and administrative functions of research initiatives for faculty and scholars. This role is essential in managing both sponsored and non-sponsored research endeavors, contributing to the center's mission of transforming innovative ideas into practical solutions for energy and environmental challenges.

Key Responsibilities

The Grants Manager will be responsible for comprehensive pre- and post-award grant administration, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and policies.

Pre-Award Duties:

  • Communicate university and sponsor policies to faculty and staff, ensuring adherence to compliance standards.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of grant proposals, guiding principal investigators through the application process.
  • Prepare necessary documentation and support faculty with conflict of interest disclosures.
  • Coordinate the sub-award and contract processes efficiently.
  • Submit proposals to the appropriate offices and ensure they are received by funding agencies.

Post-Award Duties:

  • Review award notices for any special conditions or restrictions.
  • Generate financial reports and analyze spending on active projects, providing insights to faculty.
  • Manage grant extensions, budget modifications, and transfers as required.
  • Oversee salary certification processes and ensure compliance with sponsor regulations.
  • Review and approve financial documents related to research projects, ensuring alignment with university policies.
  • Facilitate the closeout process for grants, including preparation of final reports.

Compliance and Liaison Role:

This position acts as a liaison with the Office of Research and Project Administration and Sponsored Research Accounting, ensuring timely submission of required reports and adherence to sponsor guidelines. The Grants Manager must stay informed about evolving regulations and participate in ongoing training to maintain compliance.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and a keen attention to detail.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field.
  • 3-4 years of relevant experience in grant management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience in budget development and financial reporting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with university and sponsor policies.
  • Experience with grants management systems.
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures within a university setting.
