Overview

The Department of Molecular Biology is looking for a dedicated individual to take on a part-time, fully remote role as a Grants Manager, focusing on a significant 7-Year Grant initiative. This position is initially set for a 2-year term, with the possibility of annual extensions based on ongoing funding.

The selected candidate will serve as the primary grants manager for the New Jersey Alliance for Clinical and Translational Science (NJ ACTS) award. A resume and cover letter are required for consideration.

About the Grant

This award is supported by the NIH through subawards from partner institutions and is designed to enhance training opportunities that foster collaboration and translational research among various universities. Although hosted within the Department of Molecular Biology, the funding is allocated across multiple departments.

Key ResponsibilitiesPre-Award Duties:
  • Prepare proposals and manage internal submissions for potential NJACTS applications, collaborating closely with the Principal Investigator and various administrative departments.
  • Develop budgets, justifications, and data tables, ensuring compliance with agency guidelines during submission processes.
  • Oversee the setup of internal awards and manage annual funding mechanisms.
Post-Award Duties:
  • Facilitate communication with partner institutions and coordinate daily with Principal Investigators and administrative teams.
  • Monitor financial expenditures to ensure adherence to university and sponsor guidelines.
  • Prepare annual progress reports and manage financial reporting and closeout requirements.
  • Maintain organized records of all grant documentation.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Stay informed about university and sponsor policies to ensure compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field is required, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in grant management within a university context. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is essential, along with a solid understanding of accounting principles.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining financial integrity and confidentiality. Familiarity with university policies regarding grant applications and experience with financial systems is preferred.

This position is fully remote, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements.
