Job Summary

Columbia University is seeking an experienced professional to join its Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action as an Associate Director of Training and Education. This role will play a critical part in developing and administering policy compliance and prevention training for students, faculty, staff, and administrators on protected class discrimination and harassment, retaliation, sex-based harassment, sexual misconduct, stalking, domestic and dating violence, equal opportunity, and affirmative action policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and administer policy compliance and prevention training programs for various University constituents.
  • Conduct legal research and provide recommendations on applicable policies and procedures.
  • Communicate and clarify policies and procedures to a broad range of University constituents.
  • Create new training materials and update existing materials to ensure they are fresh, engaging, and up-to-date with applicable policy and law.
  • Work strategically and collaboratively with University constituents to develop and administer trainings that meet their needs.
  • Administer the Alternative Resolution process, including conducting mediations, restorative interventions, and facilitating conversations related to protected class and/or bullying.
Requirements
  • JD required. Minimum of three to five years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to work with confidential information in a discreet and professional manner.
  • Must be self-directed with effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have strong analytical and project management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and respond to requests in a timely and knowledgeable manner.
  • Requires the flexibility and adaptability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are critical.
  • Proven experience in working collaboratively and effectively with varied constituencies.
  • Demonstrated skill in tracking and maintaining data and developing reports.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to conduct legal research and writing; demonstrated knowledge of Title VI; experience providing trainings and/or presentations to faculty and staff.
