Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team at Wastequip, LLC. This role involves engaging in critical infrastructure planning, architecture design, and engineering to support our operations effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage in comprehensive infrastructure planning and architectural design.
  • Generate and maintain technical documentation as required.
  • Devise and execute technical solutions tailored to business needs.
  • Oversee projects and systems of medium to high complexity related to IT systems configuration and optimization.
  • Collaborate on multiple projects, serving as both a team member and a project lead when necessary.
  • Formulate project plans with defined milestones and deadlines based on gathered business requirements.
  • Ensure timely delivery of project milestones while adhering to budget constraints.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to support staff.
  • Address escalation tickets related to infrastructure issues, including system outages.
  • Administer Windows and Linux Server Operating Systems effectively.
  • Manage virtualization platforms, including VMware, ESXi, and vSphere.
  • Oversee the complete suite of M365 and Azure products.
  • Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Cisco and Fortinet network systems.
  • Deploy and manage workloads within the Azure cloud environment.
  • Collaborate with leadership across various business functions to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
  • Support and maintain up-to-date knowledge of Cyber Security best practices and systems.
  • Willingness to travel 10-20% of the time.

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of Windows system administration utilizing PowerShell (including AD, DNS, WSUS, SCCM, group policy, InTune, ATP).
  • Proficient in network design, architecture, protocols, and topology.
  • Experienced in scripting with PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, bash, Python, or similar languages.
  • Thorough understanding of Microsoft 365 and Azure services.
  • Experience with enterprise-class firewalls, particularly from Cisco and Fortinet.
  • Familiarity with VMware-based virtualization platforms.
  • Advanced troubleshooting capabilities across diverse technologies.
  • Knowledgeable in using ticketing and software tools to support ongoing operations.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and quickly adapt to new technologies.
  • Strong team collaboration skills.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Preferred industry and vendor-specific certifications and training (Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, etc.).
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Windows systems administration using PowerShell.
  • At least 1 year of experience with VMware.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with enterprise-class firewalls, preferably Fortinet.
