Job Overview

WSP is actively seeking a Lead Engineer for Substation Electrical Systems to join our esteemed Energy Team. This role will involve leading initiatives in the High Voltage Transmission & Distribution sector.

Your Contributions
  • Oversee the Substation Electrical Engineering sector within our Transmission & Distribution Energy Team.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following:
    • Ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery of design packages pertinent to their area of expertise.
    • Guaranteeing the quality of the deliverables related to their discipline.
    • Managing multiple projects concurrently.
    • Effectively leading a team of engineers to meet the aforementioned objectives.
    • Providing guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
    • Offering expert insights to various projects.
    • Identifying skill gaps within the team and reporting to management to ensure comprehensive project delivery.
    • Coordinating with other engineering disciplines.
    • Assisting the Project Engineer in achieving overall project objectives.
    • Representing the project and discipline to clients, in collaboration with the Project Engineer.
    • Contributing to proposal development.
    • Participating in the recruitment process.
    • Contributing to the enhancement of the quality management system.
    • Ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
    • When necessary, representing the project to clients, supported by engineering leads and/or management.
    • Engaging in reporting and project management activities as required by the organization or client.
    • Supporting management in achieving organizational objectives.
  • Exercising ethical decision-making regarding company resources and adhering to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies.
  • Taking on additional responsibilities as needed to meet business demands.
Who You Are

Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, ideally in Transmission and Distribution systems within utility or industrial/commercial settings.
  • P.E. Registration or eligibility for P.E. licensing.
  • Familiarity with codes and standards such as IEEE and ANSI.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of conveying ideas effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Well-honed critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven experience in coordinating and directing subcontractors to ensure safe and efficient task completion.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and adherence to WSP's health, safety, and ethical policies.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as required by project needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
Compensation and Benefits
WSP offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, and retirement savings, aimed at ensuring health and financial security throughout your career.

Expected Salary Range: $89,200 - $182,000

WSP USA provides this compensation range and general information about other benefits that may be offered for this position based on the successful applicant's qualifications and experience. WSP USA reserves the right to adjust compensation based on various factors not related to an applicant's protected status.
