Position Overview:

Head Clerk


The Head Clerk plays a crucial role in overseeing store operations, ensuring that all departments function smoothly while delivering exceptional customer service.

This position also involves assisting with merchandising and maintaining the Center Store departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee advertising, promotions, and seasonal changes, ensuring timely execution of display setups, schematics, signage, and store decorations.
  • Monitor sales performance, conduct inventory assessments, analyze promotional sales, and manage product ordering.
  • Efficiently stock merchandise on shelves and displays, maintaining an appealing product presentation to enhance customer satisfaction and drive sales.
  • Direct the activities of cashiers and service clerks to ensure efficient customer service, adequate staffing, and a safe, clean work environment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace to protect both employees and customers.
  • Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by senior management.

Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of products, pricing, store layout, safe work practices, and merchandising.
  • Ability to learn and adhere to company policies and procedures, fostering a collaborative team environment, along with proficiency in basic math and communication skills.
Education:
A four-year college degree or equivalent experience through formal education, specialized training, or relevant job experience.

Experience:
A minimum of six months in a Key Carrier role or nine months as a Perimeter Department Manager, or equivalent experience in grocery retail management.

Other Requirements:
Availability to work a flexible schedule, including various retail hours.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform tasks in a basic store and office environment, including sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, using stairs, reaching, pulling, and lifting objects.
