Environmental Test Technician II

At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As an Environmental Test Technician II, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our flight hardware.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct hands-on thermal, vibration, shock, and vacuum testing on flight hardware in accordance with industry standards.
  • Setup and safely operate high-energy systems, including high-pressure gas and electrical systems.
  • Operate and maintain environmental test equipment, including data acquisition systems, environmental chambers, vibration systems, and instrumentation systems.
  • Configure test setups, fixtures, and instrumentation per test plans and standards.
  • Generate test plans, test reports, procedures, and work instructions from customer requirements.
  • Design test fixtures per requirements, test plans, and standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness of test equipment and test lab.
  • Identify, communicate, and mitigate cost, schedule, and technical risks.
  • Participate in Process/Job Hazard Assessments.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a testing environment and working with test equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, standards, and technical requirements.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with data acquisition systems, data analysis, and data processing.
  • Strong safety mindset and experience, including hands-on experience planning and conducting hazardous or critical operations.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A.S. in engineering discipline (mechanical, electrical, or physics desired).
  • Previous experience operating test equipment of a similar magnitude.
  • Skills using Creo or other modeling and drafting software.
  • Experience in using automation applications such as LabView or similar tools.
  • 2+ years' experience in a similar work environment.
  • Ability to utilize test instrumentation and control components: pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTDs, strain gauges, accelerometers, flow meters, load cells, relays, solenoid valves.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical schematics and reports.
  • Experienced with high-pressure system design and handling.
  • Experienced with hydraulic system design and handling.
  • Experience using test instrumentation and control components.
  • Intermediate skill level using NI Labview / TestStand.

Compensation Range:

WA applicants: $29.03-$40.65

Other site ranges may differ
