JOB SUMMARY

The Registered Nurse is responsible for independently planning, executing, and assessing nursing care in various patient care scenarios, adhering to established standards, policies, and procedures. This role involves delivering direct nursing care, fulfilling educational and leadership roles, and engaging in shared decision-making and quality improvement initiatives with minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Formulates a care plan that incorporates strategies to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Implements care interventions and medical plans as necessary.
  • Coordinates the delivery of care.
  • Utilizes patient education to promote health and safety.
  • Assesses progress towards established outcomes.
  • Maintains ethical nursing practices.
  • Acquires knowledge and skills that reflect current nursing standards.
  • Integrates evidence-based practices and research findings into nursing care.
  • Contributes to quality nursing practices and shared decision-making by supporting council decisions and participating actively.
  • Communicates effectively across all areas of practice.
  • Demonstrates leadership within the professional nursing environment.
  • Collaborates with patients, families, and the inter-professional team in nursing practice.
  • Utilizes appropriate resources to deliver safe, effective, and financially responsible nursing services.
  • Practices in a manner that is environmentally safe and healthy.
  • Engages in and understands the shared decision-making model of the NCH Healthcare System.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in the State of Florida.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required from an accredited organization.
  • Newly practicing RNs will be enrolled in the RN Residency Program.
  • Intermediate computer skills are necessary, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
