POSITION SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse in Cardiac Rehabilitation is responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing educational strategies for patients within the cardiovascular inpatient demographic. This role encompasses care for individuals post-operative CABG, as well as those undergoing catheterization and other cardiac-related treatments. The RN also takes on teaching and leadership duties, maintaining composure in emergency situations and participating in departmental committees and performance improvement initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Oversee the direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned areas.
· Evaluate the cardiovascular inpatient population to create educational strategies in accordance with AACVPR guidelines.
· Identify individual risk factors related to cardiac and pulmonary health and assist in risk stratification.
· Recognize the need for patient reevaluation when conditions change.
· Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities as per departmental and hospital policies.
· Develop tailored educational plans based on patient goals and adjust as necessary.
· Review patient histories to formulate care plans that incorporate lifestyle modifications.
· Facilitate discharge classes in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
· Manage the transition process from phase I to phase II of cardiac rehabilitation, ensuring proper patient assignment.
· Provide flexibility by delivering cardiac rehabilitation services across both hospital campuses.
· Engage in patient education and community programs by organizing classes and delivering instruction.
· Cross-train for outpatient cardiac rehabilitation and adapt to flexible scheduling as required.
· Demonstrate proficiency in assessing urgent patient situations and direct appropriate team responses.
· Support departmental activities to maintain operational and salary expenses within budgetary limits.
· Understand and apply principles of Performance Improvement, seeking opportunities for process enhancement.
· Uphold confidentiality principles and comply with legal/regulatory requirements regarding information release.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Must hold a valid Registered Nurse license in the State of Florida.
· Minimum of one year of experience in a cardiology-related patient care setting is required.
· Critical care experience is preferred.
· Comprehensive knowledge of cardiac diseases, anatomy, physiology, risk stratification, exercise physiology, and nutrition is essential.
· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory, with Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification recommended for outpatient settings.
· Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
