Environmental Monitoring Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Monitoring Specialist to join our team at the Department of Ecology. As an Environmental Monitoring Specialist, you will be responsible for designing and implementing studies to measure the effectiveness of Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) implementation plans and other water cleanup activities. You will work closely with various teams to address environmental challenges such as nonpoint pollution, stormwater management, toxics, and climate change adaptation.
About the Role: In this role, you will lead statewide water quality effectiveness monitoring projects that directly impact the health of Washington's aquatic ecosystems. You will be responsible for collaborating across disciplines, including data management and scientific examination, to ensure that our efforts are scientifically sound and aligned with the program's strategic goals.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement studies using biological, habitat, and water quality parameters to measure the effectiveness of TMDL implementation plans and other water cleanup activities.
- Work closely with various teams to address environmental challenges such as nonpoint pollution, stormwater management, toxics, and climate change adaptation.
- Collaborate across disciplines, including data management and scientific examination, to ensure that our efforts are scientifically sound and aligned with the program's strategic goals.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as environmental science, biology, or a related field.
- Experience in environmental monitoring and assessment.
