Technology Support Specialist

North Thurston Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled Technology Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Technology Support Services department, you will be responsible for providing top-notch technical support to our staff and students.
Job Summary:The Technology Support Specialist will be responsible for providing configuration, installation, and maintenance services for PC, mobile, Audio/Visual hardware, and peripheral equipment. You will also be responsible for providing configuration, installation, maintenance, and administration of District Standard hardware and software, including Microsoft Windows, ChromeOS, iOS, and other curriculum-based software.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide configuration, installation, and maintenance services for PC, mobile, Audio/Visual hardware, and peripheral equipment.
- Provide configuration, installation, maintenance, and administration of District Standard hardware and software.
- Perform inventory support, including unboxing, tagging, and updating asset information in the inventory and/or work order systems.
- Configure and maintain local user profiles and software settings.
- Set up networked devices for staff and students, configure software applications, and provide initial training for end-users.
- Utilize diagnostic tools to identify device configuration and connectivity problems.
- Document issues and tasks through a work order system.
- Write specifications and develop administrative reports as requested.
- Perform product research and determine integration strategies as requested.
- Provide system overview and assistance for hardware or software changes to end-users.
- Attend workshops and training classes, read publications and periodicals, participate in Special Interest Groups, and any other means to stay current on hardware, software, and other information systems in use at NTPS.
- Support the Mission, Goals, and Vision of North Thurston Public Schools and Technology Support Services.
- Required to follow Board policies and stay abreast of updates and changes.
- Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned.
- Successful experience in working with culturally diverse families and communities or have otherwise demonstrated a commitment to strengthening engagement of a diverse community and skill in communicating with a diverse population.
- High School Diploma or equivalent and A+ Certification or equivalent desired. Must meet minimum qualifications as per collective bargaining agreement.
- Two (2) years of substantive and progressively responsible experience in providing hardware and software support. Excess experience may be substituted for the certification requirement.
- Analytical and research ability to successfully troubleshoot failures in computer and peripheral hardware and/or software.
- Able to follow written and verbal direction and take the initiative when necessary. Ability to effectively communicate on technology issues with a high level of effectiveness in terms of customer comprehension and response; including the ability to work and communicate with customers who may have a high level of frustration.
- Able to organize work and set priorities for accomplishing work in a timely and effective manner.
- Able to work collaboratively and effectively with other staff, employees, and supervisors.
- Strong working knowledge of networking/server equipment configuration and maintenance.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, group policies, network topology, and how it interacts with enterprise environment.
- Experience installing and maintaining Windows, ChromeOS, iOS, and Audio/Visual hardware and software.
- Working knowledge of life cycle/endpoint management software for enterprise.
- Experience working in an education environment.
- Second language skills.
