Coastal Resilience Engineer Position
The Department of Ecology is seeking a skilled Coastal Resilience Engineer to join their team. As an engineer in this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative nature-based solutions to address complex coastal challenges in vulnerable communities throughout the state.
As the Coastal Hazards Organizational Resilience Team (COHORT) engineering lead, you will be responsible for evaluating, scoping, and advising the design and implementation of sustainable shoreline projects. This will involve hands-on engagement with local communities, tribes, consultants, and state and federal agencies, providing critical technical assistance and developing innovative strategies to enhance coastal resilience.
Your work will involve conducting site assessments, designing and implementing sustainable shoreline projects, and monitoring their effectiveness over time. You will also be responsible for ensuring that lessons learned are applied to future initiatives.
This role offers a dynamic blend of technical engineering analysis, project coordination, and collaboration with a diverse group of partners, allowing you to make a tangible impact on the resilience of Washington's coastal areas.
