JOB SUMMARY: As a Lead Linux Systems Engineer, you will be instrumental in ensuring the quality, reliability, and compliance of the operating systems used in electric vehicle (EV) charging.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

As a Linux Systems Engineer, you will support the installation, maintenance, and monitoring of various multi-platform operating systems, utilities, and associated software to fulfill organizational requirements for EV Supply Equipment (EVSE).

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing daily support for the High-Performance Computing (HPC) environment, with a primary focus on Ubuntu and other Unix-like operations, both on-premises and within cloud platforms.
  • Developing and updating protocols for installing, patching, configuring, customizing, troubleshooting, upgrading, integrating, and maintaining Ubuntu and other Unix-like operating systems.
  • Conducting research and analysis to resolve issues, delivering root-cause analysis for Ubuntu and other Unix-like systems.
  • Proactively seeking information and employing analytical and creative problem-solving skills, alongside standard processes and technologies, to ensure secure usage of systems, applications, and infrastructure.
  • Demonstrating quality service and accountability in resolving requests, supporting daily operations, and ensuring system stability, which results in accurate, timely, and efficient solutions.
  • Staying current with HPC technologies, including backups, job scheduling, and parallel file system management.

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is required. Proven experience in Linux Ubuntu Operating System testing, hardware testing, or quality assurance, preferably within the automotive or electric vehicle sector, is essential.

Strong understanding of testing methodologies, test automation frameworks, and software development lifecycle (SDLC) principles is necessary. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and Java, along with Linux-based systems, test automation, and scripting, is expected.

Knowledge of electrical systems, power electronics, and EV charging protocols (e.g., CCS, CHAdeMO, AC/DC charging standards, OCPP) is advantageous.

Competencies:

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Strong engineering experience in charging communication standards and vehicle charging testing methodologies.
  • Preferred experience in Electrical Engineering.
  • A customer-first mentality, demonstrating empathy, pragmatism, and a hands-on approach.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Skills: Linux, Ubuntu, Automation, BASH Scripting, OS Builds, Ansible, hardware.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Extensive knowledge of high-end Linux/Ubuntu systems, particularly on the desktop side, is required. Familiarity with Ubuntu loads and kernels, as well as experience in creating and modifying Ubuntu images, is essential. Experience with the process of obtaining Ubuntu Certification for devices is a significant advantage. Automation experience is crucial, along with strong scripting skills using BASH. A deep understanding of Linux kernels and their interaction with various Ubuntu versions and hardware modifications is necessary.

Job Type: Full-time, Exempt

Pay: $85, $115,605.00

Schedule: This is an office-based role with occasional travel required to visit customer sites, attend industry events, or meet with partners. Flexible working hours may be necessary to accommodate customer needs and support inquiries outside of standard business hours. The role operates in a fast-paced environment with the potential for high-pressure situations and tight deadlines.
