Costa Mesa, California, United States Anduril Industries Full time
Company Overview
Anduril Industries is a pioneering defense technology firm dedicated to enhancing the military capabilities of the U.S. and its allies through innovative technological solutions.

By integrating the expertise and business models of the most forward-thinking companies of the 21st century into the defense sector, Anduril is revolutionizing the design, production, and distribution of military systems.

Our suite of systems operates on Lattice OS, an AI-driven platform that synthesizes numerous data streams into a real-time, three-dimensional command and control interface.

As we navigate a new era of strategic competition, Anduril is devoted to delivering state-of-the-art autonomy, artificial intelligence, computer vision, sensor integration, and networking technologies to military operations in a matter of months, not years.

Position Summary
Anduril's Air Dominance and Strike (AD&S) division is in search of a Mission Systems Engineering Lead to join our dynamic team.

The AD&S division is tasked with the development of comprehensive, mission-oriented autonomous aerial systems that provide outstanding outcomes for our clients.

In the role of Mission Systems Engineering Lead, you will be accountable for achieving mission objectives within Anduril's projects through the careful selection, sourcing, and validation of mission-critical payloads and systems.

The ideal candidate will possess a background in payload conceptualization, selection, integration, and validation. You will initiate with mission-level objectives and work towards solutions through effective modeling, domain knowledge, and vendor collaboration.

This position will necessitate taking charge of subcontractor and/or internal technical development initiatives and collaborating across various Anduril teams to seamlessly integrate capabilities.

If you are passionate about constructing and delivering next-generation autonomous solutions through meticulous modeling and exploration of system trade-offs followed by actual vehicle integration, this opportunity is tailored for you.

Key Responsibilities

1. Conduct evaluations for communication, sensing, and effector systems to ensure successful mission outcomes in close collaboration with the broader AD&S team.
2. Design autonomous multi-functional, multi-mode payload and system solution concepts, requirements, layouts, interfaces, and operational strategies.
3. Modify or create physics-based models of payload system performance in collaboration with subject matter experts.
4. Adapt or develop validated effects-based models for application in mission-level modeling and simulation tools.
5. Validate system performance in close partnership with test and integration engineers.
6. Collaborate with AD&S teams to effectively integrate and deliver high-performance systems to our clients.
7. Oversee subcontractors and/or internal development teams to define subsystem requirements and ensure technical performance is met on schedule.
8. Communicate results in various formats to both internal and external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

- Active DoD TS Security Clearance is mandatory.
- Expertise in communications, sensors, and effector domains, particularly in Radar, EO/IR, RF, and EW systems.
- Proficiency in physics-based modeling and analysis of system performance using tools of your choice.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in payload integration and validation, with more experience being advantageous.
- At least 5 years of experience in a relevant scientific and/or engineering discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

- Familiarity with current and next-generation advanced communications, sensing, and effector systems and platforms.
- Experience in platform-level system trade and integration.
- Advanced skills in analytical toolchains or programming languages (e.g., MATLAB, Python, C++, COMSOL, Ansys).
- In-depth knowledge of advanced communications (e.g., secure LPx line-of-sight, beyond line-of-sight, tactical data links).
- Extensive experience in the sensing domain (e.g., EO/IR, ESM, EA, EW, LIDAR).
- Background in missile design and integration.
