Responsibilities:

Position Summary:
The incumbent is responsible for executing all necessary tasks to secure required authorizations, confirm patient funding sources for services, and coordinate patient surgical scheduling. This role involves addressing patient inquiries and resolving any identified concerns. Required Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with computer registration and scheduling systems.
  • Possession of the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential for successful performance in assigned duties.
  • General understanding of medical terminology.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills relevant to the position.
  • Ability to travel to off-site physician practices.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of recent experience (within the past two (2) years) in patient registration at a hospital or clinic, as a Medical Assistant, or in medical billing.
  • Basic knowledge of ICD9 and CPT coding.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office applications.
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and evenings.
  • Capacity to maintain an appropriate work pace relative to workload.
  • Aptitude for interpreting and understanding various medical insurance plans and making accurate coverage determinations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships throughout the Health System.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with university and medical center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission standards.
  • Experience with Epic systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in the authorization process and surgical scheduling.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
