Position Overview

Key Responsibilities:
As a Lead Property Accounting Specialist, your duties will encompass:

  • Overseeing the daily functions of the accounting division, including month-end and year-end closing activities, accounts payable/receivable, cash management, general ledger maintenance, payroll, and utility billing.
  • Coordinating and executing annual audits, offering suggestions for enhancing processes and systems for corrective measures.
  • Ensuring compliance with all financial reporting timelines, preparing financial management reports, and distributing them to relevant teams.
  • Conducting thorough balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded, organized, and reported.
  • Enhancing and refining financial systems and workflows.
  • Collaborating closely with property management to deliver precise financial data, including the formulation of annual budgets and financial projections.
  • Evaluating and interpreting property and portfolio-level operating results and variance analyses.

Qualifications:
To qualify for the position of Lead Property Accounting Specialist, candidates should possess:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in property accounting or a similar field.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. A CPA designation is preferred.
  • Experience with CAM Reconciliation is essential.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including a robust understanding of full-cycle accounting.
  • Familiarity with Yardi and MRI commercial property accounting software.
  • Solid understanding of commercial real estate and property management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a high degree of accuracy in preparing and entering financial data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively engaging with both finance and non-finance professionals.
  • The capacity to work autonomously, manage multiple tasks concurrently, and meet stringent deadlines.
  • A strong work ethic, demonstrating the highest level of integrity and professionalism.
