Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Accounting Specialist to oversee daily operations within the Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R) departments. This role includes ensuring compliance with internal control procedures and assisting with daily A/P and A/R functions. The Senior Accounting Specialist will also support various General Ledger (G/L) account reviews and reconciliations, along with certain month-end closing activities.

You will report directly to the Accounting Manager, focusing on the following key responsibilities:

  • Manage areas of responsibility including, but not limited to: fixed assets, G/L account reconciliations, daily EFT reviews, and communication with A/P and A/R team members.
  • Monitor adherence to internal control procedures and assist with vendor/customer new account setups.
  • Facilitate year-end 1099 processes and maintain the department calendar along with critical deliverable dates.
  • Perform reconciliations for assigned G/L accounts.
  • Assist with A/P and A/R tasks related to month-end close and other related activities.
  • Gather supporting documentation for various internal and external audit requests.
  • Propose and implement improvements and efficiencies in processes and procedures.
  • Undertake additional duties and ad hoc projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Sage 100 is advantageous.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a focus on accuracy.
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP and other accounting principles.
  • Proficient in Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of internal controls and adherence to them.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to research and resolve issues independently.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Aptitude for building collaborative relationships with colleagues.
  • Demonstrated commitment to work and ability to perform under pressure.
