Job Overview

Objective: To facilitate a high-quality early childhood experience in a nurturing, secure, and loving atmosphere that promotes development, encourages independence, and respects individuality.

Core Responsibilities:

1. Create a welcoming and safe space that is organized, clean, and visually appealing, allowing children to grow and explore.

2. Deliver a program that addresses the emotional, physical, intellectual, and social needs of both individual children and the group as a whole.

3. Adhere to health and safety standards set forth by the relevant regulatory agency.

4. Assist in executing lesson plans aligned with the established curriculum framework.

5. Engage with children and promote their active participation in various activities.

6. Observe, document, and communicate significant behaviors of individuals and groups.

7. Implement positive discipline strategies based on recognized educational philosophies, with training provided.

8. Foster effective communication with parents on a daily informal basis.

9. Support classroom staff in achieving satisfactory evaluations on educational quality assessments.

10. Maintain essential records and documentation.

11. Build respectful relationships with children from diverse backgrounds, honoring their dignity and considering their cultural and socio-economic contexts.

12. Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities as required.

13. Attend to the toileting needs of children, including changing diapers when necessary.

14. Undertake any additional tasks or responsibilities as required by the role.

Reporting Structure:

  • Reports to the lead educator regarding staff, children, parents, or program matters.
  • Communicates with the lead educator about lesson plans and curriculum implementation.
  • Consults with the Director or Assistant Director for further assistance as needed.
  • Engages with the Executive Director for unresolved matters, including the Director when appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma and documented experience working with young children in various settings.
  • Ability to connect joyfully and sensitively with children.
  • Capacity to lift a child weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Demonstrated emotional maturity and stability.
  • Skill in managing crisis situations.
  • Physical endurance.
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and files.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Willingness to obtain certification in Pediatric First Aid, CPR, and AED.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, including acquiring the Child Development Associate Credential.

Work Commitment: 25 hours per week

Compensation: $16.00 per hour
