Position Overview

As a vital member of our engineering team, you will collaborate under the guidance of the electrical engineering lead or project manager. This role presents an exciting opportunity to engage in a project-oriented environment, working alongside other engineers and designers focused on the design, enhancement, and evaluation of both new and existing electrical systems in power plants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage in complex assignments that involve investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving a diverse range of electrical engineering challenges.
  • Support the electrical engineering lead or project manager in ensuring that projects are executed effectively, on schedule, and within financial constraints.
  • Conduct and review detailed calculations, including three-phase AC and DC power analyses, short circuit assessments, voltage drop evaluations, motor starting studies, and protective relay configurations.
  • Generate engineering documentation to facilitate drawing production.
  • Prepare and evaluate engineering reports and studies that convey technical information clearly and concisely, adhering to client specifications and S&L standards.
  • Perform independent assessments of work completed by peers, including calculations and drawing preparations.
  • Develop comprehensive project work plans.
Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience:
  • A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET-accredited program is mandatory.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in the design of electrical engineering systems within a project team setting, emphasizing integrated and detailed system design for new facilities or modifications to existing ones. This experience should encompass equipment selection, material choice, control philosophy, and the preparation of calculations and specifications.
  • Proficiency in electrical system design, including medium and low voltage distribution systems (transformers, generators, motors), equipment selection, and analytical calculations.
  • Experience serving as a liaison between the firm and clients in a support or lead engineering capacity.
  • Ability to review design drawings produced by others.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both in teams and independently.
  • A meticulous approach to work.
Valued but Not Required Skills and Experience:
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE).
  • Experience in construction and startup processes is advantageous.
