Classification: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Position Summary: The Electrical and Mechanical Assembly Specialist is proficient in executing both electrical and mechanical assembly tasks. This role requires the ability to cut and punch metal, mount hardware, construct DIN rail assemblies, and install and accurately terminate wiring. The specialist is also adept in various assembly techniques, including soldering, enclosure assembly, and wiring of cables. Each specialist is capable of working independently or collaboratively within a team, ensuring effective production at each station or cell.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble or populate enclosures with components based on engineering specifications.
- Modify, terminate, and install cabling, wires, or harnesses within or outside of enclosures.
- Populate printed circuit boards and terminals.
- Perform hand and wave soldering on printed circuit boards and terminals.
- Cut and punch DIN housing and rail components.
- Assemble DIN mounted terminal assemblies.
- Compile product modifications and kits.
- Ensure product compliance with engineering drawings and industry standards.
- Operate CNC laser, engraver, and thermal printing machinery.
- Utilize power and hand tools, including hydraulic presses, drill presses, and miter saws.
- Package and prepare products for shipment.
- Maintain a consistent workflow and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate effectively with team members.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong mathematical and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
- Understanding of tolerance and torque specifications.
- Ability to read and interpret metric and imperial measurements.
- Proficient in reading engineering drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Experience in wiring and soldering.
- Familiarity with computer applications such as Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Contact CIM.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Technical training from a recognized institution may substitute for experience.
Physical Demands:
To effectively perform the essential functions of this role, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers with dexterity, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and lift up to 50 lbs. Vision requirements include close and distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. The role may require working at heights up to 18 feet.
