Position Overview

Role Summary

Work Arrangement: Hybrid schedule with in-office presence required on select days

Medline Industries is seeking a skilled Application Automation Specialist to enhance our Logistics IT team. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in the design, construction, and upkeep of a robust, dependable, and secure Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) framework that aligns with our cloud transition, software modernization, and organizational goals. The ideal applicant will possess over a year of experience in software development, infrastructure management, and a solid grasp of cloud technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architect, implement, and sustain a scalable, reliable, and secure CI/CD framework to facilitate our cloud transition and software modernization efforts.
  • Provide CI/CD solutions that cater to the needs of customers, products, developers, and operations throughout the product lifecycle, enabling engineering teams to accelerate code and application releases.
  • Develop and oversee automated build, deployment, and monitoring systems to ensure platform reliability and availability.
  • Diagnose platform challenges and collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, and operations teams for resolution.
  • Engage with Enterprise Architecture, Software Engineering, and Development teams to deliver self-service platform capabilities that enhance the developer experience.
  • Work alongside IT Operations and Network Operations Center to manage and monitor cloud infrastructure and applications, ensuring stable and fault-tolerant solutions to meet application availability targets.
  • Partner with the Quality Assurance Automation team to integrate automated testing into infrastructure and application deployment pipelines.
  • Collaborate with Compliance and Security teams to ensure that infrastructure and applications adhere to compliance standards and are safeguarded against cybersecurity threats.
  • Generate and maintain documentation, including platform requirements, functional specifications, and operational procedures.
  • Support the development of junior team members through mentoring and coaching.
  • Utilize a business-oriented approach to manage platform expenses and budgets in collaboration with the IT Finance Division.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Education

A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, systems engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Experience

At least 1 year of experience in a technology role, encompassing infrastructure, cloud operations, or development related to software engineering or DevOps activities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

*Essential Skill: Cloud Automation, particularly with Azure*
  • A customer-focused mindset with an interest in employing design thinking to deeply understand internal and external customer needs, delivering solutions that enhance customer experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the product development lifecycle, particularly the interrelations between product, development, infrastructure, and operations.
  • Familiarity with Scrum/Agile software development methodologies and contemporary software delivery practices.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools, ideally Bitbucket, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and Artifactory.
  • Proficiency in engineering cloud-based solutions using leading cloud service providers, preferably Azure.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, ideally Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs.
  • Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, Perl, or PowerShell.
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure and Application Performance Monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools, ideally Terraform, Packer, and Ansible.
