Assembly Operations Supervisor

Position: Production Supervisor
Compensation: Based on Experience
Location: Mundelein, IL
The Production Supervisor will oversee the planning, scheduling, and management of all phases of the final assembly process leading to the shipment of complete vehicle frames and suspension systems. This role will lead a team of 8-10 skilled assembly technicians, order pickers, and shipping specialists to achieve production targets. Responsibilities include managing the flow of raw and fabricated components through to the finished products ready for dispatch.
Key Responsibilities
- Directs and coordinates production operations, setting priorities and processes for the final assembly stages.
- Leads a team of 6-8 assembly technicians to meet production objectives.
- Schedules component assembly based on production capacity, inventory levels, and external service requirements.
- Collaborates with external service providers for processes such as plating, anodizing, and powder coating, while managing transportation logistics.
- Supervises crating and inventory picking operations to ensure timely order fulfillment.
- Monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) and implements strategies to enhance operational efficiencies.
- Works closely with the Purchasing/Inventory Manager to ensure accurate inventory management and demand forecasting.
- Acts as a liaison between assembly operations and engineering teams.
- Reviews and updates work instructions to maintain smooth production flow.
- Coordinates assembly activities with Sales, Customer Service, and Shipping departments.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in production management or scheduling roles.
- Strong strategic planning capabilities and comprehensive understanding of production planning processes.
- Ability to think critically and adapt to daily challenges affecting production.
- Basic understanding of vehicle mechanical assembly and components.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and planning skills.
- Capable of addressing complex issues in a dynamic environment.
- Experience with ERP systems; familiarity with Global Shop Solutions is preferred.
