Job Responsibilities

This role focuses on the management of the Virginia Comprehensive Cancer Control Program (VACCCP), ensuring that all necessary project activities and reporting components are executed accurately and within the designated timelines. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Planning, executing, and assessing strategies derived from the Virginia Cancer Plan through collaboration with the Cancer Action Coalition of Virginia (CACV) and its affiliates;
  2. Participating on the CACV Executive Board and relevant workgroups, as well as engaging with community partners as required;
  3. Acting as a subject matter expert on the application of evidence-based interventions (EBIs) and policy, system, and environmental changes (PSEs), offering training and resources to partners for effective strategy implementation;
  4. Overseeing the execution of all VACCCP projects while ensuring compliance with CDC funding stipulations;
  5. Providing guidance and technical assistance to CACV members and workgroups on the application of Virginia Cancer Plan strategies, with a focus on integrating health equity into all initiatives;
  6. Monitoring contracts, MOAs, and agreements to guarantee that all deliverables are fulfilled and meet or exceed project expectations;
  7. Tracking the allocation of funds to ensure appropriate spending in accordance with state procurement policies.

This position is funded through the Cancer Prevention and Control initiative for a specified duration, with funding availability subject to periodic review. Continued employment is dependent on the ongoing availability of funds.

Essential Qualifications

  • Experience in implementing and evaluating evidence-based interventions;
  • Proficiency in program planning, execution, and assessment;
  • Background in educating the public on chronic disease issues, including cancer;
  • Experience in grant and budget management;
  • Ability to present information to diverse audiences;
  • Skilled in report writing, program planning, and grant applications;
  • Experience in developing and sustaining strategic partnerships with state coalitions and committees;
  • Ability to collaborate across organizations to optimize resources for shared initiatives;
  • Experience in incorporating health equity and social determinants of health into program planning and evaluation;
  • Demonstrated knowledge in Community Health or Public Health.

  • Experience collaborating with health systems to implement evidence-based interventions and quality improvement projects.
