Commonwealth of Virginia is in search of exceptional PhD, MD, or MD/PhD researchers with a focus on cancer-related studies. Candidates with interests in lipid metabolism, cancer cell signaling, tumor immunology, and integrative genomics are particularly encouraged to apply. These positions are available at the rank of Associate or Full Professor and may offer tenure-track opportunities for suitable candidates. The assignment to an academic department will align with the candidate's expertise and training.

The Commonwealth of Virginia is home to a prominent cancer research center that engages over 1000 researchers dedicated to various aspects of cancer research, including basic, population, translational, and clinical studies. The center is committed to enhancing lives through the discovery and dissemination of effective cancer prevention, detection, and treatment methods.

The center offers extensive support through shared resources such as Flow Cytometry, Microscopy, Cancer Mouse Models, Biostatistics, Cancer Informatics, Clinical and Translational Research, and Transgenic/Knockout resources. Additionally, there is a Clinical Trials Office that provides comprehensive administrative and regulatory support for ongoing clinical trials.

Purpose: This senior faculty role is pivotal in furthering the research mission and requires collaboration with fellow researchers to leverage the intellectual and scientific resources available. The faculty member will focus on basic science investigations related to cancer cell signaling, lipid metabolism, integrative genomics, tumor immunology, or chemical biology. Teaching responsibilities at the graduate level and mentoring of students and trainees will also be integral to this role.

Responsibilities:

Teaching
The faculty member is expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to effective teaching and mentoring of medical, graduate, undergraduate, and post-doctoral students. Active participation in providing research opportunities and mentoring junior faculty is essential.

Research
The candidate will contribute to the institution's reputation through impactful research and scholarship, including securing extramural funding, publishing high-quality research, and achieving national recognition. The faculty member will maintain an active, externally funded research laboratory focusing on lipid metabolism and cancer cell signaling.

Responsibilities include directing the research lab, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, supervising lab personnel, and managing grant applications and publications. The faculty member will also engage in collaborative research projects and contribute to core grant applications as necessary.

Service
Participation in institutional committees, review groups, and editorial boards is expected.

Required Qualifications:
