Job Summary:

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated professional to serve as a State Trafficking Services Specialist. This role will play a critical part in supporting the work of the Victims Services team in the Division of Programs and Services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance and support services for victims of human trafficking, with a primary focus on sex trafficking.
  • Assist in implementing a plan to identify and respond to victims of trafficking in the Commonwealth.
  • Identify and provide technical support to existing service providers.
  • Participate in the development of standards and guidelines for treatment programs for victims of sex trafficking.
  • Identify gaps in available services and potential funding and capacity building opportunities to meet those needs.
  • Promote strategies for the education, training, and awareness of human trafficking and for the reduction of demand for commercial sex.
  • Collaborate with local, regional, and state agencies and workgroups on human trafficking-related efforts.
  • Assist with special projects related to human trafficking, including those mandated by legislation and policy.

Requirements:

  • Considerable demonstrated knowledge of crime victimization, especially of child and youth victimization, sexual assault, and human trafficking.
  • Considerable knowledge of principles of program coordination, implementation, planning, and development.
  • Documented experience working with victims of crime and/or familiarity with victim-serving organizations.
  • Demonstrated understanding of victim-centered, culturally responsive service models.
  • Documented experience developing training curricula and facilitating training.
  • Documented experience working collaboratively as part of committees, task forces, and other teams.
  • Proven ability to compose narrative reports, policies, correspondence, and other resources materials.
  • Excellent and effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and exceptional customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, and email software.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to think strategically and cross culturally, and independently implement new initiatives and projects.
  • Ability to articulate, both orally and in written form, clear and concise program objectives and goals and summarize achievements of programs in reports and other documents as requested.
  • Documented experience working as an active, contributing team member, as well as an independent and self-motivated employee.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet critical deadlines, handle multiple assignments, changing priorities, and ensure timeliness and quality of completed assignments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with victims of crime, especially victims of human trafficking.

  • A competitive salary range of approximately $69,000 - $79,000.
