Role Responsibilities

As a Territory Sales Consultant, you will be accountable for the overall sales and relationship management efforts for both existing and prospective clients within your designated territory. This encompasses pursuing new clients, enhancing and fortifying existing client relationships, and managing your sales territory effectively.

Pursuing New Clients

  • Investigating industry and market trends affecting restaurants within your territory
  • Identifying and analyzing potential clients within your territory
  • Formulating sales strategies that emphasize products, services, values, and solutions offered by Gordon Food Service and presenting these strategies to potential clients
Enhancing Existing Client Relationships
  • Visiting all clients within the assigned territory on a regular basis
  • Conducting business reviews to assess existing clients' needs and opportunities for increasing sales
  • Providing ongoing training to clients on Gordon Food Service product offerings
  • Identifying areas within existing clients' businesses where Gordon Food Service can add value through products and services
Sales Territory Management
  • Balancing the acquisition of new clients with the deepening and strengthening of existing client relationships
  • Coordinating visits to both prospective and existing clients
  • Communicating order status and processing updates to clients

Sales Training - Preparing You for Success

Gordon Food Service's objective during your initial days is to equip you for success. This includes engaging you in various training offerings, such as e-learning, classroom sessions, video roleplays, job shadowing, and mentorship from experienced sales representatives. Throughout your initial days, you will learn:

  • How to utilize Gordon Food Service systems, processes, and tools to manage client relationships
  • About the products available to Gordon Food Service clients
  • The sales process for engaging new clients
  • How to establish your relationships within the extensive network of resources available to you as a Gordon Food Service sales representative
  • Best practices for developing relationships with current and prospective clients
  • Strategies for effectively managing your territory
Position Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED is required
    • Bachelor's degree and/or culinary certificate preferred
  • 1 year of prior sales, business, or food service experience
  • Maintaining a valid state driver's license and a safe driving record
  • Ability to obtain food safety certification
