As a small business, Planate offers a comprehensive range of services including planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management, primarily in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and various federal agencies.

The Structural Fire Safety Consultant will enhance the capabilities of the current federal staff to ensure the efficient execution of approved projects related to educational institutions and associated facilities.

This role will serve as a technical advisor and recognized authority on a diverse array of structural fire safety systems that necessitate specialized fire protection strategies.


Compensation:
$100-$120k/year (salary range varies based on experience and qualifications).

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide expert insights on methods, techniques, and procedures essential for implementing a thorough structural fire safety program within Indian affairs.
• Assist in the formulation of technical and programmatic guidelines to effectively execute structural fire safety initiatives.
• Identify, assess, and propose solutions to significant and complex issues concerning the efficient design of various fire protection systems.
• Conduct thorough reviews of building construction design documents, ensuring compliance with established codes, policies, and standards.
• Perform fire safety inspections on construction projects and recommend modifications to enhance safety standards and minimize risks.
• Oversee investigations of serious incidents, preparing detailed reports and analyses.
• Suggest strategies for mitigating unsafe conditions.
• Evaluate proposed projects and methods related to safety training and protective equipment.
• Facilitate periodic technical training on safety-related topics, including relevant codes and standards.
• Undertake additional responsibilities as required by the position.

Qualifications for Success:
• Must hold a valid Professional Engineer license.
• Extensive expertise in structural fire safety principles and practices, particularly in educational settings.
• Ability to provide technical guidance to educational institutions in addressing safety deficiencies.
• In-depth knowledge of site planning, building design, and construction methodologies.
• Proficient in scheduling and estimating material and labor costs.
• Capable of evaluating compliance with federal regulations.
• Possess a valid driver's license.
