Position: Research Scientist - Speech Technologies

Overview

We are seeking a Research Scientist with extensive expertise in speech recognition and processing. In this role, you will innovate and create advanced automatic speech recognition (ASR) solutions utilizing large datasets to enhance our AI-driven collaboration platform for users worldwide. You will also work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including product and engineering experts, to ensure the successful execution of impactful projects from inception to completion.

Team Insights

The Zoom AI Speech Team is at the forefront of developing speech recognition technologies aimed at enhancing Zoom's conversational AI capabilities. This encompasses various products, including Zoom AI Companion, Zoom Meetings, Zoom Contact Center, Zoom Phone, and Zoom Revenue Accelerator.

Candidate Profile
  • A PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, accompanied by over 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in deep learning methodologies and programming languages such as Python and shell scripts; familiarity with machine learning frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in speech recognition, speech processing, natural language processing, or similar fields, whether in academic research or industry applications.
  • Expertise in key speech recognition topics, including modern end-to-end ASR architectures, language modeling, decoding algorithms, on-device ASR models, personalization and adaptation, semi-/self-supervised learning, multilingual and robust ASR, and LLM-integrative ASR.
  • Familiarity with speech recognition toolkits and libraries such as Kaldi/k2, ESPNet, NeMo, or TorchAudio.
  • Experience in processing large-scale data and training models.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills are vital.
Compensation Overview:

Minimum Salary:
$167,200.00

Maximum Salary:
$365,800.00

In addition to the base salary and/or on-target earnings, Zoom follows a Total Direct Compensation philosophy that considers base salary, bonuses, and equity value.
