Under the supervision of the Environmental Services Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for the thorough cleaning of various areas including patient rooms, nursing stations, lounges, restrooms, offices, clinic spaces, corridors, stairwells, and elevators, adhering to established cleaning and infection control protocols.


Key Responsibilities:

  • CLEANING PROCEDURES: 1.1 Following comprehensive training, execute cleaning tasks in designated areas according to established schedules and methods: 1.2 Perform high and low dusting of surfaces. 1.3 Empty and replace liners in trash receptacles. 1.4 Disinfect and wipe down furniture and surfaces. 1.5 Clean and sanitize bathrooms and fixtures. 1.6 Vacuum or dry mop floors. 1.7 Wet mop and disinfect floors. 1.8 Refurbish and maintain floor surfaces. 1.9 Clean walls and windows, polish metal surfaces, and replenish room supplies. Conduct discharge cleaning and carpet shampooing as needed. Inspect work for quality assurance.
  • MAINTENANCE & SANITATION: 2.1 Execute all Environmental Services tasks with urgency and a focus on customer service. 2.2 Complete cleaning assignments within the timeframes set by the department. 2.3 Properly measure and dilute cleaning agents for their intended use. 2.4 Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work areas, reporting any repair needs. 2.5 Assist with emergency spill clean-ups as required. 2.6 Observe and report any maintenance needs for equipment, furniture, and facilities.
  • SAFETY PROTOCOLS: 3.1 Ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors by adhering to departmental safety policies. 3.2 Utilize protective equipment and clothing as necessary for the role, including gloves, safety goggles, and appropriate footwear. 3.3 Report all incidents and accidents to the supervisor immediately. 3.4 Maintain a clean and hazard-free environment by promptly addressing spills and debris.

Additional Duties:

  • 4.1 Undertake any additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor. 4.2 Participate in all required meetings and training sessions as directed.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
Relevant experience in a similar role is advantageous.

SKILLS:


Ability to communicate effectively in English to perform job duties safely and efficiently. Must successfully complete all pre-employment screenings as required. After training, demonstrate proficiency in using supplies, tools, and equipment responsibly. Capability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Successful completion of departmental orientation is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


While performing job duties, the employee must be able to use hands for handling and reaching, and must be able to stand and walk for extended periods. The role requires frequent bending, kneeling, and lifting. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception.


Work Schedule:
Hours include evening shifts with alternating weekends and holidays.
