Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Service Associate - Per Diem to join our team at Yale New Haven Health. As an Environmental Service Associate, you will play a critical role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily cleaning of patient rooms, nursing stations, lounges, restrooms, offices, clinic areas, corridors, stairwells, elevators, and other assigned areas.
  • Clean in accordance with standard cleaning and infection control procedures.
  • Empties trash receptacles, removes trash, and relines containers.
  • Dusts horizontal and vertical surfaces, including furniture and fixtures.
  • Cleans and polishes bathroom and bathroom fixtures.
  • Dry mops or vacuums floors, and wet mops/disinfects floors.
  • Burnishes/Refinishes floors, and cleans wall surfaces and windows.
  • Polishes metallic surfaces, and replenishes room supplies.
  • Performs check-out or room discharge cleaning, and shampoos carpets.
  • Collects bulk trash from soiled holding areas, and inspects one's own work for quality.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to understand and speak English at a level that allows for safe and efficient performance of assigned duties.
  • Must pass all pre-employment screenings as required by the client.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, and successful completion of department orientation.
Working Conditions

The employee is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is required to stand and walk. The employee must frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally move and/or lift up to 50 pounds.

The specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
