Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at Foundation Health Partners. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our clinicians and nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepares Patients for Exams and Treatment
    • Takes and records vital signs, symptoms, and other necessary measurements
    • Documents pain scores as appropriate
    • Reports patient condition to clinicians
  • Assists Providers with Exams and Procedures
    • Takes patients' blood pressure, documents respiration and heart rate/pulse, takes temperature, ear irrigation, and performs EKGs
    • Acts as a chaperone as needed
    • Uses universal blood and body fluid precautions at all times and personal protective equipment as needed
  • Coordinates and Manages Patient Care
    • Coordinates and manages patient care, including pre-certifications, authorizations, prescriptions, and scheduling of patients
    • Communicates test results to patients
    • Acts as a resource to clinicians to provide optimal patient care
  • Provides Clerical Support
    • Provides clerical support with patient/client notifications and documentation
    • Completes medical records, labs, authorizations, X-Rays, hospital records, and any previous care pertaining to each patient visit
    • Provides complete and accurate information necessary for billing related to the patient encounter in a timely fashion
  • Maintains a Clean and Functional Environment
    • Maintains a clean, functional environment, including cleaning and disinfection of equipment, exam rooms, and storage areas
    • Disinfects equipment and instruments using appropriate solutions following sterilization procedures
    • Follows manufacturer's recommendations and OSHA guidelines in handling of hazardous substances
  • Orders Supplies and Stocks Patient Care Areas
    • Orders supplies and stocks patient care areas
    • Monitors inventory, including medication/injectables and immunizations
  • Develops and Maintains Effective Communication Mechanisms
    • Develops and maintains an effective communication mechanism with all external and internal customers
    • Exemplifies service orientation and behaviors in all contacts
Qualifications
  • Education and Certification
    • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge
    • Knowledge as normally obtained through graduation from an Accredited Medical Assisting Program
    • Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations
  • Certification and Registration
    • Medical Assistant Certification or Medical Assistant Registration is required
  • Experience and Skills
    • Requires skills and abilities typically attained with 1 year of medical clerical experience, preferably in a hospital or physician office setting, or prior experience in customer service
    • Must possess excellent organizational skills as well as effective human relations and communication skills
    • Working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy and keyboarding skills is required
