Overview

The Certified Cardiac Catheterization Technologist plays a crucial role in assisting medical professionals during diagnostic and interventional catheterizations, as well as cardiac device placements and peripheral vascular interventions. This position involves monitoring patient vital signs and hemodynamics throughout procedures, performing necessary hemodynamic calculations, and documenting relevant procedure details and evaluations using appropriate systems.

Key Responsibilities

· Conducts radiographic diagnostic and interventional procedures by adhering to and verifying the orders from referring providers. Utilizes independent judgment and applies established methodologies according to protocols.
· Informs patients and their families about the procedures and treatments to be performed, demonstrating professionalism and promoting teamwork for optimal patient outcomes.
· Ensures the production of high-quality images by adjusting radiation parameters and preparing them along with pertinent patient information for timely analysis. Maintains accurate documentation throughout the process.
· Exhibits proficiency in performing invasive and interventional procedures as required, in accordance with established policies. Demonstrates competence in administering radiopharmaceuticals and other approved medications.
· Conducts and assesses equipment quality control measures, troubleshooting issues as necessary and notifying the appropriate personnel to ensure optimal equipment performance. Maintains a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors while adhering to radiation safety protocols.
· Upholds ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities associated with radiology practice, including maintaining confidentiality of all work-related information.
· Ensures efficient departmental workflow by monitoring and maintaining adequate inventory levels of supplies and materials to prevent service interruptions.

Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
· Certification or diploma from an accredited program in Radiologic Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, or Invasive Specialist training is necessary.
· National Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) is mandatory.
· A minimum of one year of experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab setting is required.
· Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) certifications are required.
· Strong communication skills, human relations skills, and the ability to analyze data and solve problems are essential.

Preferred Qualifications

· Preferred certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
· Additional related education and/or experience is advantageous.
