Position Overview

The Certified Cardiac Catheterization Technologist plays a vital role in assisting medical professionals during various diagnostic and interventional procedures, including catheterizations, cardiac device placements, and peripheral vascular interventions. This position requires close monitoring of patient vital signs and hemodynamics throughout procedures, along with performing necessary hemodynamic calculations. Accurate documentation of procedure details, evaluation results, treatment plans, and other relevant data is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts radiographic diagnostic and interventional procedures by adhering to and confirming the orders from referring providers. Utilizes independent judgment and applies established methodologies in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Educates patients and their families about the procedures and treatments to be performed, demonstrating professionalism and fostering teamwork to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Produces high-quality imaging by adjusting radiation parameters and preparing images along with pertinent patient information for timely interpretation. Maintains accurate documentation throughout.
  • Exhibits proficiency in performing invasive and interventional procedures as required, in line with established protocols. Administers radiopharmaceuticals and other approved medications competently.
  • Conducts equipment quality control measurements and demonstrates troubleshooting abilities, notifying the appropriate personnel to ensure optimal equipment performance. Maintains a safe environment for all individuals present.
  • Upholds ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities related to radiology practice, ensuring confidentiality of all work-related information.
  • Ensures the efficient operation of departmental workflows, monitoring and maintaining adequate inventory levels to prevent service interruptions.

All functions must be performed in accordance with established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Providing excellent service experiences to all customers is a fundamental expectation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Must possess a certificate or diploma from an accredited program in Radiologic Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, or Invasive Specialist programs.
  • National Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) is required.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab setting is necessary.
  • BLS and ALS certifications are required.
  • Effective communication and human relations skills, along with the ability to analyze data and solve problems, are essential.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is preferred.
  • Additional related education and/or experience is advantageous.
