Job Title: Substance Abuse Technician

Job Summary:

Bernalillo County, NM is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Substance Abuse Technician to join our team. As a key member of our Behavioral Health Services department, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive detoxification and treatment services to clients struggling with substance abuse.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments and interviews to gather relevant information about clients.
  • Provide support and guidance to clients throughout the addiction recovery process.
  • Collaborate with other department staff to administer program curriculum and activities for treatment and rehabilitation.
  • Collect and analyze data to track the effectiveness of treatment services and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Process new clients, including issuance of clothing and orientation to facility rules.
  • Provide education and support to individuals and groups in the community through group presentations and workshops.
  • Transport clients to appointments and other service locations as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of client progress and behavioral incidents.
  • Participate in performance reviews and adhere to recommended measures for improvement.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma and two years of work experience in substance abuse, healthcare, law enforcement, emergency management, or corrections.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and bilingualism in English and Spanish.

Working Conditions:

This position requires working indoors in a climate-controlled environment with occasional travel to appointments and other service locations. The primary work surface is even, dry, carpeted or tiled floor, and the employee works alone primarily with or without directions.

Equipment and Tools:

The Substance Abuse Technician will use a variety of equipment and tools, including a telephone, typewriter, calculator, computer, fax machine, and copy machine, to perform essential job duties.
