Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing assessments and admissions in the Access Department and providing specialized nursing care for adult patients who are working toward recovery from substance use and co-occurring disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct pre-screening assessments to determine eligibility for services
  • Staff cases with a multidisciplinary team
  • Request medical records as needed
  • Collaborate with various providers in the community
  • Provide timely admissions and ensure staff are following PPE/infection control procedures
  • Complete nursing history and initial assessment on all patients admitted
  • May initiate discharge paperwork for planned admissions
  • Provide direction and guidance to non-licensed personnel
  • Refer unusual or complex situations to supervisor
Requirements
  • Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico OR eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements OR Eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico OR a Graduate Nurse with a ¿permit-to-practice¿
  • Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing
  • Employment is subject to nationwide criminal background check and is conditional pending results
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License
  • Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment
Working Conditions

Incumbent will work in an acute care hospital and an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Lifting up to fifty (50) pounds may be required. Exposure to potentially violent patients in volatile situations requiring crisis interventions may be required.
