The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston is seeking a highly skilled Sales and Events Manager to join our Special Events Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving venue rental sales to external clients, overseeing the sales process from initial intake to executed contract, and managing internal and external event calendars.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive Venue Rental Sales: Act as the primary driver for venue rental sales to external clients, providing venue tours, initial estimates, and negotiating contract terms.
  • Manage Sales Process: Own the venue sales process from initial intake to executed contract, ensuring seamless execution and timely completion.
  • Calendar Management: Oversee all aspects of the external sales process, including managing internal and external event calendars, and attending to other administrative tasks as needed.
  • Marketing Strategy: Collaborate with the Head of Special Events to create and implement a marketing strategy to sell venue spaces to external clients, with a focus on proactive sales engagement and networking.
  • Client Management: Maintain and track an active portfolio of past and prospective clients, including those sourced from outbound networking and inbound inquiries.
  • Performance Analysis: Analyze annual performance and forecast revenue expectations based on sales trends and internal calendars, in conjunction with the Head of Special Events and Business Coordinator.
Requirements
  • Proven Sales Record: Proven sales record with ability to successfully engage in proactive lead generation and networking strategies.
  • Event Venue Management: Knowledge of event venue management, sales, and marketing, with a focus on driving revenue growth.
  • Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail, and the ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate with all levels of museum personnel, and external event clients and their guests.
  • Clerical and Accounting Skills: Strong clerical and accounting skills, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Education and Experience
  • Experience in Event/Venue Sales: Three (3) or more years of experience in event/venue sales and marketing, with a focus on driving revenue growth.
  • College Degree: College degree preferred; additional experience in lieu of education will be considered.
