Job Overview

Position Summary:

As a Building Automation Systems Specialist at Hoffman & Hoffman Inc, you will play a pivotal role in the design, execution, and upkeep of building automation systems aimed at enhancing energy efficiency, improving occupant comfort, and streamlining building operations. Your collaboration with project managers, contractors, and facility managers will be essential to ensure that automation systems are effectively integrated and fulfill all technical and functional requirements.

Core Responsibilities:

  • System Design & Execution:
    • Architect, configure, and program building automation systems (BAS) to align with client specifications and industry benchmarks.
    • Create detailed specifications, layouts, and system architectures for automation initiatives.
    • Engage with architects, engineers, and contractors to guarantee the smooth integration of BAS with existing building systems.
  • System Maintenance & Assistance:
    • Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of BAS to ensure peak performance.
    • Address and resolve system issues and alarms in a timely manner.
    • Offer technical support and training to building operators and maintenance personnel.
  • Project Oversight:
    • Supervise the installation and commissioning of BAS equipment, ensuring compliance with project timelines and financial plans.
    • Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to maintain quality and adherence to project specifications.
    • Perform system testing and validation to confirm proper operation and integration.
  • Energy Optimization:
    • Execute energy-saving initiatives and monitor system performance to uncover opportunities for efficiency enhancements.
    • Analyze data from BAS to produce reports on energy consumption and system efficacy.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
    • Develop and maintain thorough documentation for system designs, configurations, and modifications.
    • Create reports detailing system performance, maintenance activities, and energy consumption.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Standards:
    • Ensure that all BAS installations and operations adhere to applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
    • Stay informed about industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in building automation.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Automation, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience: A minimum of [5] years in building automation systems design, implementation, and support.
  • Skills:
    • Expertise in BAS programming and configuration tools (e.g., BACnet, LonWorks, Modbus).
    • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, lighting controls, and energy management.
    • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and proficiency in troubleshooting complex systems.
    • Strong communication skills and the capability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
    • Experience in project management with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST), Professional Engineer (PE), or BAS-specific certifications) are advantageous.
