Best Buddies International is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to creating opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to form meaningful friendships, secure jobs, and live independently.

Job Summary:

The Director, Mission Advancement will be responsible for building and maintaining a strong volunteer infrastructure within the state, developing and implementing state events, securing foundation and corporate funding, and managing local staff and advisory boards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive statewide strategy for securing sustainable funding
  • Manage local advisory board, including recruitment, training, and retention of committee and board members
  • Identify, cultivate, and develop volunteers capable of making personal commitments and becoming directly involved in the solicitation process
  • Develop and implement major fundraising events to meet revenue goals
  • Research and cultivate relationships with local funders, and work with the Grants Manager to determine appropriate grant targets
  • Develop a comprehensive statewide public awareness strategy, and work with volunteers on its implementation
  • Contribute to the creation and distribution of local newsletters and annual reports
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or at least 4 years' relevant experience
  • 3-5 years of fundraising experience, including special events planning and donor cultivation
  • 3-5 years' experience and knowledge of working with volunteers and boards
  • 3-5 years' experience in staff management
  • Superior persuasive writing and presentation skills, with the ability to exert influence and articulate the mission and goals of Best Buddies
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, and familiarity/comfort with database management systems
